Day 65: McAfee's Knob

I forgot to mention, Joe has about 50 chickens, roosters, and guinea fowl. At about 4AM, the roosters started crowing. Thats is NOT EVEN CLOSE TO SUNRISE YOU DAMN ROOSTER! And since we were camped by the coop, it was pretty much crowing directly outside our tent.

Oh well. We got up and got some coffee and Becca enjoyed two more helpings of spaghetti. Then it was back into the misty woods.

The weather is supposed to be absolute shit for at least a week. Considering that it's june, it's nice to have rain and clouds as long as we can stay semi dry at night. Better than the heat. But when you are supposed to hike one of the most scenic sections of trail and pass over the iconic McAfee's Knob, some sun would be welcome. The cloud ceiling was pretty much right at the level of the knob. A hundred feet or so lower, we were out of the cloud and you could see the expansive valleys.  But at the knob, and later at tinker cliffs, it was mostly just washed out mist.

Yet another appalachian fail.

Oh well. 9 miles to daleville and BBQ.
