Day 4: woody gap to neels gap

It stormed on woody gap last night as expected. We woke up to biting wind but not bad Temps. Our first hike was right up switchbacks to a wonderful morning view of the valley at sunrise. That pic is on the camera not the phone though.

Today was supposed.to be a tough 10 mile.hike up blood mountain. Supposedly LIKE 25% of thrus quit after blood mountain. We cruises up it. No problem! I think we have our hiker legs but we are going to try and stay around 10 mile days a bit longer.

After checking out the views we headed into Neels gap to meet an old friend from the UO chemistry department, Dr. Charlie Swor who now teaches at Young Harris college not too far from here. Charlie offered to take us into town to resupply at a real.store.instead of the inflated prices at Mountain crossings that is right on the trail. On the way into town we stopped for some amazing BBQ. We made it back to mtn crossings to buy some fuel and a rain cover for Becca's Bag and Charlie joined us for a beer and a one mile hike up the hill to a random campsite.

It was great catching up with Charlie and meeting his son who was just a fetus the last time I saw Rachel. Thank you sooo much Chuck!!!
