Day 38: A gorgeous hike over "The Hump"

At least that's what the locals apparently call the two giant balds we climbed today. The weather was gorgeous this morning, I am so glad we didn't have to trek across these two huge exposed grassy balds in the rain or isolated tstorms.

Instead it was picture.perect hiking weather and we took advantage of it by taking lots of pictures.

Then began a painfully.long and steep down into a gap between Roan TN and Elk Park NC. We had enough time that we wanted to go into town for some food and then set up camp. But which town? Well the answer is easy when 1:after weeks of hiking the NC/TN border we finally reached the end of our forays into NC and 2:Roan had a BBQ joint.

So we hitched into town and had preposterously big portions of meat and cheese fries with pulled pork in em and too many drink refills to count. The proprietor gave us a huge bag of pork skins that we are trying to give away. They taste like crispy bacon with less fat and salt.

Now we are back to the trail, tent set up before the afternoon showers come in and enjoying pork skins, a creek, and books. Trail Lyfe!
