Day 42: Back to the trail

All the hikers drank the resorts entire beer stock. We helped for sure. This morning was slow. We went to town for a early lunch subway and got back to the trail by 11.

We had to hike up a completely pointless mountain. Straight.up, straight down. It looks like a volcano on the profile. Some people decided to just skip it and hitched to the lake. We are purists though.

Becca saw a huge rattle snake! Lucky!!

We caught up to Excalibur, who looks miserable and thinks he may have tonsillitis.

At the lake we got to see Old Drum and Ivana Sherpa, who we have not seen since Franklin. They were providing trail magic and we went for a swim. Still kinda cold for swimming though.

After that we had to make it past the entire lake section because bear actvity closed the section to camping, picnicing, and even lingering.

Fortunately the trail is getting easier and we made it to the dam just fine. Others who came later had a bear block their way and refuse for a while to leave the trail. the bubble has started to really increase campsite density and there was a huge group right past the road designatingthe end of bear closure. But with that story, the faintest sounds in the night kept people on edge and at one point the alarm went off with people yelling in their tents and clappi nc etc. We were camped slightly uphill and decided to join in just in case.

Almost to damascus.
