In 8th grade I visited DC for spring break with my school. That was.... 1997? Anyway, at that time they were redoing the Washington monument and you couldn't get in. Well today I found out that there is another tower dedicated to the Ole boy, at Mt vernon. Much smaller though. Unfortunately this monument wad also closed, this time due to a lightning strike. Another appalachian fail.
So instead the highlight of the day was a park with free hot showers. Hooray Maryland!
