Day 134: Up and Over Mt Greylock

What a day!

Woke up warm in the church and set out to climb the tallest peak massachusetts, Mt Greylock at 3500. 3000 prominence.

Steady climb into the clouds. I smell an appalachian fail ahead.

It felt like climbing Clingman's Dome, being able to see the peaks giabt tower in the distance.

We arrived and though the day was cloudy , we were not actually in clouds so the view was great. Checked out the lodge and surprised with price and quality of the food. Amazing burger with carmelized onions.

The tower, which is advertised as climbable, was closed till at least 2017, so only a partial fail today.

It was a painful descent that caused me  knee problems during slips and at the very end when it finnaly got flat i got stung in the achilles by a bee. Wtf.

Now at 14 miles, we walked.into town. There was a great chinese buffet by price chopper making it an easy choice for dinner. Then we did a 4 day resupply and then back out for final 2 miles.

Crazy productive day. 16.2 miles, 2 cooked meals, 1 mountain, and a resupply.
