Day 144: Farm Livin is the life for us

We are very happy hikers today. After 14 miles of beautiful vermont hiking, and having lunch on and observation tower built.on top of a cabin called the lookout, we came to a road with a farmstand selling ice cream and soda. We partook.

We had heard of a local who lets hikers stay in his barn. The farmstand also had local meats. So the question was, did this local trail angel also have a grill?

We met Dan at his farmhouse and indeed he had a grill he would let us use! FRESH MEATS! We got a steak and pork chops and lamb sausages with kellen. We got pork chops for our gracious host. And peaches and zucchini and squash. Oh man we were feast ready.

Dan let us grill our stuff first because he wanted his prepared a special way. So while we feasted he prepped his share of the bounty. Then terribleness ensued. When the grill was ready for him, he found out that his dogs had stolen his meats. It was sad. But he is a jelly sort, one who takes things like this in stride.

After dinner we retired.to the barn, watched the first episode of MacGyver, then went to sleep. We hope to see Dan in the morning in before we leave.
