Day 139: A short day up a beautiful mountain

We get to camp at the top of a gorgeous mountain by some ski lifts.

We milked our hotel stay, checking out at the last minute. Thanks again Ivy. Then we hitched into town for all our errands. We got coffee, found the post office to send home some things to SWard, did laundry, ate lunch, got Becca new shoes, and then finally resupplied for the hike to Killington.

A very nice lady hitched us out to the trail in exchange for stories. We didn't get to hiking till 4. But with only 3 miles to the top of Bromley mountain the timing was perfect.

And now we are on a bald with perfect views of the surrounding mountains. The ski hut is open for hikers to sleep in, but we want to tent so we can watch the sunset and rise. Also, we want to get cozy in our sleeping bags we just got back. We are giddy about them. This summer has been surprisingly cold.

There are only 2 problems. The black flies are suddenly swarming and a bunch landed in my hair and snuck their way to my scalp. They also swarmed.my arm. The flies have been non biting for so long now. I remember georgia having bad biting flies. More recently we've only had kamikaze flies dive bombing our eyeballs and nostrils. But these guys leave welps on me. Sooo itchy.

Second, the log in the hut tells us that last night a bunch of locals drove up here to party from midnight to 5am. Hopefully they are too hungover to put on a repeat performance.
